Tawn P from Richmond TX sent over an example of her recording process for her submission in our NBA 2K12 MC portion of our game soundtrack contest. From opening up our Duck Down Music conductor newsletter, downloading the winning producer's instrumental track, to her recording in the booth.
MC's will have until 12PM EST on April 27th to submit ONE clean track using Alex Kresovich's "The Return" beat. We urge MCs to record music that DOES NOT include obvious references to basketball. Be creative with your delivery & overall theme.
MCs are also encouraged to record video of their recording process, which can be included with their final submission. Videos can be uploaded via file sharing sites (such as YouSendIt or SendSpace) & emailed to: nba2k12@duckdown.com. Please don't attach your MP3 submission as that should be uploaded to http://soundcloud.com/nba-2k12-mcs/dropbox. When emailing the link to your video please include your Name, Track Name & Phone #.
The grand prize winners of the contest, which will consist of one producer and one MC, will have their song placed in the music soundtrack for NBA 2K12.
In addition, each winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to New York City, where they will have the special opportunity to perform the song live at Duck Down's CMJ Showcase in October 2011. The Top Ten MCs & Top Ten Producers selected from each phase will also receive premium accounts at SoundCloud, valued at $700.
